How we verify a deal

Most deal feeds post fast and hope. We post fast and check. Here is what happens to every deal before you see it.

The discount has to be real

We measure a discount against what the same store has charged for that same item over the last 90 days. We don't compare against an inflated list price or another store's price, because both make ordinary prices look like bargains.

We check it live, right before posting

  • The price you'll pay, confirmed within two minutes of posting
  • That it's in stock
  • That it isn't hiding a coupon, membership or minimum order
  • That the seller is the store itself or a well-rated seller
  • That the price didn't jump between when we found it and when we checked

If any check fails, the deal doesn't go out.

Every alert is timestamped

Each post says when we last checked the price, in Mountain Time. Prices change, sometimes within minutes, so the time matters.

Dead deals get marked dead

When a deal sells out or the price goes back up, we mark the post expired everywhere it went. If you try one and it's dead, tap the dead button on the alert; that tells us to recheck right away.

About price errors

Price errors are real, but stores often cancel those orders. We label them clearly so you can decide whether to try. See our guide to price errors for what usually happens next.

What we won't post

  • Deals we couldn't confirm live
  • Adult products, weapons, ammunition, or recalled items
  • The same deal twice in three days

Amazon prices: Amazon's rules limit how affiliates show its prices, so our Amazon alerts link to the live price instead of stating it.
